Derrroule le Rebord Pour Gagner!

You all know it's that time of the year again. Madness and mile-long lines at the local Timmies. But have you heard this story?

At a elementary school, two girls were outside during the lunch hour, walking and chatting, as normal pre-teens do. As they walked by a garbage, can one girl (let's call her Girl#1) happened to notice an un-rolled, empty Tim's cup. She fished it out, and started to roll back the rim. However, since her fingers were cold, she asked her friend (Girl#2) for help, the friend did as asked, and revealed the prize: a Toyota Rav4.

So as an act of good faith, the parents of Girl#1 have offered to sell the vehicle and give the parents of Girl#2 five thousand dollars. However, the parents of Girl#2 said no thanks. Why you ask?

They want half of the whole prize. That's right. And apparently they are planning on taking the parents of Girl#1 to court.

All over a piece of garbage. Moral of the story: one man's trash is another man's treasure.

Hey, I think 1/2 is fair!

If I had to roll up the rim for you because your hands were cold, I would definitely give you 1/2. It's what friends are for!

I saw a newsclip on that last night. I think Girl#1 is the legal owner since she fished it out of the garbage. If she had bought the coffee (rather than found it) and asked her friend to roll up the rim, Girl#1 still owns the cup and is entitled to the entire prize. $5000 is a generous amount and Girl#2 should accept it rather than take it to court because she's just going to lose and then she'll get nothing but big court and lawyer fees.

But taking out the LEGAL aspect. If it were a good friend of mine, I'd split the findings in half.

or share the car

I'm with Mel on her first post. Even with good friends I think $5000 is still pretty generous since the 1st girl saw it first and actually did the dirty work of attaining the cup.

someone in my office was talking about how now the teacher is laying claim on the cup saying it was her cup. Lawyers are saying she doesn't have a case since she chucked it, it's no longer hers.

Parents of Girl #2 phoned a local radio station to ask for legal advice on the matter.

Isn't that what everyone does?

Hi, Stuntman Stu? In your professional opinion...

The thing is... I'm serious!

As reported on A Channel news at 6:43 am yesterday morning... No, I don't watch that crap, my dad does. Those two "news anchors" are honestly the DUMBEST people on television.

Oh... were you talking about the Stu reference? Hmm... if you were, thanks!

I think they should split the prize with everyone in the province, just to be safe!

I'm going to sue them, as my tax dollars pay for the garbage collector to be so lazy that the garbage piled up.

I think I will be rich!

One problem JamesMo... it happened in Quebec.

too bad - your plan would have worked.

Once again, the French are out to screw us over.
